KOBY Curriculum: Confidence, Courage, and Self-Advocacy for Life

The KOBY Curriculum is a research-based 10-session program designed to empower student athletes with the critical skills of confidence, courage, and self-advocacy that extend beyond the sports field and prepare them for success in all aspects of life. Rooted in the real-life lessons learned from the tragic loss of Jordan McNair, this program was developed to ensure that no athlete ever feels voiceless in the face of challenging situations, whether in sports or life.

Each session in the KOBY Curriculum is focused on equipping students with practical tools and knowledge to advocate for their own safety, well-being, and future success. The curriculum encourages athletes to develop resilience, speak up for themselves and others, make informed decisions, and lead with integrity. Through engaging activities, interactive discussions, and real-world applications, students learn how to navigate peer pressure, mental wellness, and leadership challenges.

Key Components of the KOBY Curriculum:

  • Building Confidence: Sessions emphasize self-belief and self-esteem, encouraging athletes to trust their instincts and voice their concerns when needed.

  • Cultivating Courage: Athletes learn to take bold, positive action, especially in situations where their safety or well-being is at risk, both on and off the field.

  • Mastering Self-Advocacy: The curriculum teaches athletes how to articulate their needs and stand up for themselves, creating a foundation for responsible decision-making and leadership in life.

The KOBY Curriculum not only prepares students to succeed in their sports careers but also fosters personal growth, resilience, and the ability to thrive in various life situations. Participants leave the program with the confidence to face challenges, the courage to make tough decisions, and the advocacy skills to protect themselves and others.
